Bringing Creative Printing In-House for a Growing School

How Oxbow and FUJIFILM helped Chokmah Independent Schools move beyond the limits of their old equipment to produce books, artwork, and materials in-house, creating a new revenue stream along the way.

Established in 2011, Chokmah Independent Schools has grown steadily into a campus with the printing demands to match. Books, learning materials and a continuous administrative workload all pass through the same equipment, and the school’s ambitions for what it could produce had moved well past what that equipment could deliver.

The Challenges

Chokmah Independent Schools was growing, and its printing was not growing with it. The equipment in place set a ceiling on what the school could produce, and that ceiling sat lowest exactly where the school wanted to do more: the creative work that gives learners and educators something better than a photocopied page.

Two workloads were competing for the same capacity. Book production runs at volume, while administrative printing runs constantly, and print quality and output capacity had both become recurring complaints. Behind the equipment there was little in the way of support to call on when something went wrong.

The Oxbow & Fujifilm Solution

Oxbow approached this as a support question as much as an equipment one. Demonstrating that the school’s service needs would be fully covered mattered as much as demonstrating what FUJIFILM devices could handle, because the previous arrangement had fallen short on both counts. A FUJIFILM C750 with a booklet finisher was installed to carry the high-volume work, including the books the school had previously sent out. A FUJIFILM C4030 sits alongside it for day-to-day administrative printing, so the two workloads no longer compete for the same device.

The Benefits

The school now creates all of its books internally, which has turned a cost into an additional revenue stream. Beyond the books, the capability reaches into the classroom: artwork, banners and personalised materials can be produced on site, particularly for the lower grades, without the external costs that used to make those ideas impractical. The print quality problems that came with the previous equipment have been resolved. With Oxbow also supporting the school’s telecoms, interactive classroom boards, planned CCTV installation and new campus opening, the school has a single relationship to call on as it continues to grow.
